Two killed, two hurt in crash near Central City

CENTRAL CITY — Two people were killed and two others were hurt in a two-vehicle crash Saturday night near Central City.

According to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, a Dodge truck and a Toyota Prius collided at 8:28 p.m. at the intersection of Sawyer and Jordans Grove Roads, just east of Central City.

A passenger in the truck and the driver of the Prius were killed in the collision. Their names are being withheld pending notification of family. The driver of the truck, Craig Alan DeMoss, 68, of San Tan Valley, Arizona, and a passenger in the Prius, a 10-year-old child, were hurt and taken to Cedar Rapids hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. Numerous agencies responded to the scene, including the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, Marion Police Department, Central City Fire Department, Prairieburg Fire Department, Coggon Fire Department, Center Point Ambulance and Lifeguard Air Ambulance.
