WESTERN — A Swisher man faces charges after police say he fired a gun at another vehicle during a road rage incident.

According to the Linn County Attorney’s Office, deputies were called to a road rage incident north of Western on Club Road around 6 p.m. on Thursday. Authorities said the driver of a Ford Mustang — later identified as 50-year-old John T. Anderson — fired a shot at another vehicle.

Deputies located Anderson driving the suspect vehicle a short time later. An empty shell casing was on the floor of the vehicle and a loaded Beretta 9 mm handgun was also found in the car, authorities said.

Anderson admitted to firing the weapon. Deputies said he appeared to be intoxicated. A breath test showed his blood alcohol content to be .270 percent, more than three times the legal limit of .08 percent.

Anderson was arrested and has been charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, carrying weapons while intoxicated and drunken driving.
