Northeast Cedar Rapids fire displaces home's residents

Minor fire damage, moderate smoke damage reported; no one hurt

CEDAR RAPIDS — Two residents of a northeast Cedar Rapids home were displaced by a fire that caused moderate damage.

According to a Cedar Rapids Fire Department news release, the fire was reported at 6:10 a.m. Saturday at 706 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE. Fire crews arrived and found a small fire in the kitchen and dining room area of the home.

The fire was quickly extinguished, but caused minor damage in the kitchen and dining room, as well as moderate smoke damage throughout the home.

The American Red Cross was providing assistance to the home’s occupants. No injuries were reported.

The fire remains under investigation.
