Marion police investigate stabbing that stemmed from fight

Charges pending following Wednesday incident

MARION — A man was stabbed in Marion Wednesday evening.

According to a Marion Police Department news release, officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 1300 block of Meadowview Drive around 8:03 p.m. There, officers found George Halfhill, 52, suffering from a non-life threatening cut to his back.

An investigation showed that Halffill had been in a fight with Bernard Browning, 49, in the 1400 block of Meadowview Drive. Browning also was injured in the fight, but declined medical treatment, police said.

Halfhill was hospitalized for his injuries.

Police said the investigation into the fight is ongoing and charges are pending.
