CEDAR RAPIDS — Police said a Burlington man with warrants in Iowa and Illinois led them on a chase that ended with a crash in Marion Tuesday morning.

Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow said around 11 a.m., an officer attempted to pull over a car that ran a red light at Blairs Ferry and Center Point roads. Police said the driver, Christopher Oberlander, 28, took off eastbound on Blairs Ferry Road at a high rate of speed.

Buelow said the chase continued on Blairs Ferry Road for about three minutes until Oberlander hit a retaining wall in Marion’s Thomas Park. Overlander and a female passenger, Tosha N. Clouse, 34, attempted to flee, but both were apprehended.

Oberlander faces charges of eluding, driving under suspension, reckless driving, interference with official acts and numerous moving violations. Buelow said Oberlander also has six warrants for theft from Johnson County, the Burlington and Ottumwa police departments and Illinois. Clouse also was wanted on four warrants out of Johnson County, Ottumwa and Illinois, Buelow said.
