CEDAR RAPIDS — Cedar Rapids police are investigating after a man suffering from a gunshot showed up at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s Hospital on Tuesday.

Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow said the man, age 22, showed up at the hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Buelow said it appears as if the man was shot in the chest and the bullet exited through his arm.

Police believe the gunshot incident is related to a shots fired incident in the 4000 block of 21st Avenue SW. Buelow said police responded to a report of a disturbance and shots fired around 11:26 a.m. Tuesday. Shell casings were found in the parking lot of the Westdale Court apartment complex and an entry door to an apartment building sustained damage, Buelow said.

The man was dropped off at the hospital some time later, he said.
