University of Iowa police investigate assault at Mayflower

Incident led to Hawk Alert

IOWA CITY — University of Iowa police are investigating a reported assault at the Mayflower Residence Hall that led to the issuance of a Hawk Alert early Saturday.

The assault was reported behind Mayflower at 4:31 a.m. The suspect fled after police arrived at 4:36 a.m. Officers pursued him on foot and called a K-9 officer to assist with the search, but the suspect wasn’t located.

A Hawk Alert was issued at 5:56 a.m., including a description of the suspect. The Hawk Alert was no longer in effect as of Saturday afternoon.

Police continue to actively investigate the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact UI police at 335-5022.
