CEDAR RAPIDS — A pair of Cedar Rapids men are accused of stealing roughly 50 cellphones during a robbery on Monday.

According to the Linn County Attorney’s Office, Cedric A. Wright, 20, and Gage M. Rupp, 23, entered the Sprint store at 2210 Edgewood Rd. SW and robbed the clerk. Authorities said the men demanded cash from the register before ordering the clerk into a storage area, where they stole approximately 50 cellphones.

The phones were valued at more than $10,000, authorities said.

Cedar Rapids police captured Wright and Rupp in the 6300 block of Dean Road SW when they were aided by a tracking device placed with the stolen cellphones. Wright and Rupp were found to be in possession of the stolen phones, police said. Authorities said Wright also was carrying a loaded handgun and marijuana.

Both men face charges of first-degree robbery and first-degree theft. Wright also has been charged with carrying weapons and possession of marijuana.
