UPDATE: Police release surveillance images of suspect in Iowa City armed robbery

The Iowa City Police Department has released surveillance images following a robbery at Romantix, 315 Kirkwood Ave., on Jan. 7.

IOWA CITY — Police are looking for a suspect in the armed robbery of an Iowa City adult entertainment business early Sunday morning.

Officers were called to Romantix, 315 Kirkwood Ave., at 1:06 a.m. Sunday. According to police, a white male was browsing merchandise in the store before approaching a cashier as if to purchase something. The man then displayed a weapon, police said, and obtained an unknown amount of cash and merchandise before fleeing the store in an unknown direction.

The employee was not hurt in the incident, police said.

The suspect remains at large. He’s described as 5 feet 9 inches tall and was reportedly wearing a black and yellow striped sweater and beanie.

Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000 for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS (8477).
