Iowa City police are asking for the public’s help in locating a Cedar Rapids man who came to visit an Iowa City cemetery Dec. 24 and hasn’t been seen since.

According to a police report, Lawson P. Morrison, 51, had planned to visit the Memory Gardens Cemetery, 2600 Muscatine Ave., on Christmas Eve. A person told police that Morrison had made comments he intended to kill himself, police said. Morrison has not returned to his Cedar Rapids home and has not been located.

Morrison is described as a white male, 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 210 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He is reportedly in poor health. Police say there’s no information to suggest Morrison is a threat to the public or that foul play is involved.

Anyone who locates or has contact with Morrison is asked to contact the Iowa City Police Department at 319-356-6800 or Investigator Ron Gist at 319-356-5284.
