Iowa City man faces sex abuse charges

Police say he engaged in sexual activity with girls age 13 and 14

IOWA CITY — A 19-year-old man faces prison time after police say he had sexual activity with two underage girls.

According to Iowa City police criminal complaints, one girl reported she engaged in sexual activity with David L. Lemon between January and May of 2016, when she was 13 years old. Lemon admitted to engaging in that activity, police said.

The second girl said she engaged in sexual activity with Lemon on more than one occasion between May and July of this year when she was 14 years old. Lemon also admitted to those acts, police said.

Lemon faces two counts of third-degree sexual abuse, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
