Fire causes $30,000 damage to Iowa City home

No injuries reported in Friday incident

IOWA CITY — An Iowa City home sustained an estimated $30,000 in damage in a fire Friday afternoon.

Fire crews were called to 1528 Plum St. at 4:08 p.m. and found smoke coming from the roof of the home. After searching the home to ensure no one was inside, firefighters extinguished a fire in the attic and worked to limit further damage.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Iowa City Fire Department’s Fire Marshal’s office.
