The Cedar Rapids Police Department and Fire Department were dispatched to an active fire in a garage located at 1814 I St. SW in Cedar Rapids around 7:30 a.m. this morning.

According to a release issued by the CRPD, an adult female was found on location with serious injuries. Emergency medical care was rendered to the individual, but she was pronounced deceased a short time later at a hospital.

The incident report details that neighbors heard a “loud boom” and saw that the detached two-stall garage was fully engulfed in flames.
