Coralville Bank of the West robbed, police detain suspects in Scott County

Coralville Police have suspects in custody after a Coralville bank was robbed Thursday afternoon.

According to a media release from the Coralville Police Department, officers responded to a reported robbery at Bank of the West, 800 22nd Avenue in Coralville.

Police say a lone male had entered the bank before their arrival and demanded money, then fled to the north with an unknown amount of cash. No one was injured during the incident, according to the release.

As officers investigated further, they received information of a “suspicious gray colored Ford Crown Victoria with Missouri license plates” that was in the area around the time of the robbery. An “attempt to locate” message with this description was broadcast to all Iowa police agencies, according to the release.

At 4:01 p.m., the Scott County Sheriff’s Office located a car heading east at the 287 mm of Interstate 80, taking both occupants of the vehicle into custody without incident, according to the release. Police say property they believe to be related to the robbery was visible in the vehicle.

According to police, the two individuals in the vehicle taken into custody and being returned to Johnson County are Peter Alam Lundberg, 60, and Bridgett Diane Durborow, 48, both of St. Louis, Mo.

Both are being charged with second-degree robbery, a Class C felony.

The investigation is continuing. The Johnson County Joint Emergency Communications Center, Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol are assisting in this investigation.
