DES MOINES — Hillary Clinton plans to return to Iowa to campaign for the first time since securing the Democratic nomination for president.

Clinton, the former first lady, U.S. senator and secretary of state, will hold a campaign rally Wednesday at Des Moines Lincoln High School, according to the campaign’s website.

Doors open at 11:45 a.m. for the event, according to the site.

The most recent polls in Iowa showed Clinton locked in a close race for the White House with Republican candidate Donald Trump.

Those polls were taken before the Democratic and Republican national conventions, after which most national polls have shown Clinton taking a lead over Trump.

Trump has appeared in Iowa twice since the conventions, holding rallies in Davenport, Cedar Rapids and Des Moines.
