IOWA CITY — Vermont Senator and 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is stopping in Iowa City this evening as part of a tour to promote a new book aimed at getting teens involved in activism.

Sanders, known for his activism for income equality and chastising the “1 percent,” is speaking at Hancher Auditorium at 7 p.m. The event, hosted by Prairie Lights Books, is sold out.

Hancher box office officials said those still interested in attending can call the box office later today to see if seats have opened up. They can also show up closer to the event to see if people have turned in tickets.

The box office can be reached by calling (319) 335-1160.

Hancher Auditorium seats 1,800 people.

The book is titled “Bernie Sanders Guide to Political Revolution” and it is intended as a guide for teens to effect change in the country. It is published by Henry Holt Books for Young Readers.

Ticket for the event were $25 for a ticket and an unsigned copy of the book, $30 for a ticket and a signed copy of the book, and $10 for those age 16 and younger, although that option did not include a copy of the book.

Books will be available for sale at the event and at Prairie Lights, 15 S. Dubuque St.

Sanders is expected to speak for about one hour.
