MARION — Shannon Bisgard, the associate superintendent at the Linn-Mar school district, has been tapped as the district’s new superintendent.
Bisgard will succeed Superintendent Quintin Shepherd, who is leaving for the superintendent’s job in Victoria, Texas.
The Linn-Mar board is scheduled to discuss Bisgard’s contract, with an annual salary of $210,000, at a special board meeting Wednesday. His first day at the new job will be July 1.
Bisgard’s 13 years in the Linn-Mar district has resulted in “valuable relations that will enable a smooth transition” as he moves into his new role, according to a district news release.
Bisgard has been the district’s associate superintendent since 2015. In that role, he has overseen building administration, curriculum, the teacher leadership program and professional development, according to the district’s website.
He was previously principal of the Bowman Woods Elementary School and Linn Grove Elementary, both in the Linn-Mar district. He briefly left in 2013 to be the regional director of the Grant Wood Area Education Agency.
Bisgard and his wife, Diane, are the parents of three children. All have attended Linn-Mar schools.
