CLARENCE — Last month, five girls from the senior class at North Cedar High School went to Chicago for High Tea at the Drake with advisers Carl Green and Becky Bergmann.

The girls left Cedar County around 6 a.m. and traveled in two vehicles to Chicago. After the three-hour trip, they arrived in the heart of the city at the Drake Hotel. The girls attended the holiday high tea session, where they drank their choice of tea and dined on many choices of hors devours. Some of the hors devours included smoke salmon, swan shaped cream puffs and scones.

At the Drake Hotel, the girls practiced proper etiquette. They learned how to use a tea strainer properly and how to order off a menu that included French cuisine. The Drake also had carolers sing to the visitors.

After enjoying their tea and lunch, the girls explored downtown Chicago. They visited the Water Tower Plaza and shopped in different stores along Michigan Avenue. They shopped in the Pandora Store, Macy’s and also window-shopped at Gucci and Prada.

The girls finished their day at Hershey’s Chocolate Factory.
