North Cedar hosts fun fundraiser
HS journalism: Holst captures 'Mr. North Cedar'
CLARENCE — The After Prom committee hosted its sixth annual Mr. North Cedar Contest to raise money for Post Prom earlier this month.
The event took place after the girls’ varsity basketball game and before the boys’ game. The five contestants all are seniors — Cody Fields, Timothy Bell, Clayton Carstensen, Jacob Holst and Brendan Sander.
The categories the five were judged in were casual wear, talent and swimwear.
Fields wore a suit for the casual wear. For talent, he created balloon animals and handed them to people in the crowd and, in the swimwear division, he wore a tank top, swim trunks and rode a blowup dolphin.
Bell wore a pink prom dress for formal wear, burped the ABCs for talent and wore swim trunks and a cut off shirt for swimwear.
Carstensen wore a cowboy outfit for casual wear and rode on a rocking horse carried by Torrey Wilhau and Ian Malaby. For his talent, he wore a black dress and sang. And for his swimwear, Carstensen wore a women’s two-piece swimsuit.
For Holst’s talent, he shot basketballs and for swimwear he wore swim trunks. The last contestant was Sander, who wore a tux for formal wear and pink swim trunks and a coconut bra for swimwear, carrying a big cooler.
The placing were determined by the amount of money each contestant was able to raise for the After Prom. First place went to Holst and the runner-up was Fields.
