The University of Iowa’s Tigerhawk logo has officially been installed at Kinnick Stadium’s midfield.

This is the first time the field has had a centerpiece logo since 1980.

In this version of UI’s iconic logo, the Tigerhawk is black with gold trim and faces north to south between the 45-yard lines, so that television cameras will show the logo facing left to right.

“The passion for the Tigerhawk is amazing,” Iowa athletics director Gary Barta said in a statement in June, when plans for the logo were first announced. “Wherever you go in the state, across the country, or throughout the world, when you wear the logo on your shirt, a friendly ‘Go Hawks’ shout is inevitable.”
