CEDAR RAPIDS — Join a costumed interpreter for a tour exploring the lives of Brucemore’s domestic servants in the early 20th Century.
The Hired Help tours take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday and again on Sept. 28 at the historic mansion, 2160 Linden Dr. SE.
During the tour, consider what it was like to live and work on one of Iowa’s grandest estates while discovering the servants’ living quarters and the Servants’ village, an area only open to the public during this event.
Documents, photographs and other materials from Brucemore’s collections enrich visitors’ understanding of the relationships between the employers and their staff.
Tickets purchased in advance are $15 for adults and $10 for members and students. Tickets purchased at the door, if available, are $20.
Those planning to attend should arrive at the Brucemore Visitor Center 15 minutes before the tour begins.
