WAYNE LAWRENCE LIEBE Oelwein Wayne Lawrence Liebe, 83, of Oelwein, passed away Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, at Arlington Place in Oelwein. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein with burial at a later date. A memorial fund has been established. Wayne was born July 25, 1934, in Oelwein, Iowa, the son of Lawrence and Thelma (Smith) Liebe. He grew up in Oelwein and graduated from Oelwein High School in 1952. He then attended Drake University from 1952 to 1953. Wayne was united in marriage to Judy Warren on Oct. 9, 1954, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein. After his schooling, he worked at Iowa Motors in Oelwein for his father and later with his brother Jule "Chub" as co-owners until they both retired. Wayne was an avid golfer, enjoyed riding his horses, playing poker, his morning coffee and breakfast group, vacations at the lake, his John Deere tractor, flying his airplane, driving stock cars and, of course, Ford cars and trucks. He also enjoyed time with his family. He was a big part of Oelwein and will be missed by his family and friends. Wayne was a member of the Knights of Columbus, past president of Rotary Club, the Jaycees, Oelwein City Council, Oelwein Airport board and an Oelwein Ambassador. Wayne is survived by his wife, Judy; his children, Kent Liebe, Lynn (Bob) Stewart and Lori (John "Bud") Sackfield; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his brother, Jule (Kay) Liebe; his sister, Janet Levendusky; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents and daughter-in-law, Susan Liebe.
