Virginia Bradke, 85, of Hopkinton, died Thursday, March 23, 2017, at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness.
Private family services will be Monday, March 27, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. Interment: Hopkinton Cemetery.

Surviving are her two sons, Craig (Michele) of Coggon and Mark (Lisbeth) of Kalona; four grandchildren, Megan (Tim) Mildenberg, Kipp Bradke, MacKenzie (Mike) Lester and Alison Holroyd; and two great-grandchildren, Aidan and Maisie.
Virginia Anne Brown was born Nov. 17, 1931, at Hopkinton, Iowa, the daughter of Dr. Gordon G. and Jeanette Lawyer Brown. Virginia graduated as valedictorian of Hopkinton High School, Class of 1949. She worked at the Hopkinton Bowling Alley while in high school. Russell Bradke and Virginia Brown were married Feb. 8, 1950, at St. John Lutheran Church. They then started farming on the Bradke family farm. The couple retired from active farming in 1998 and moved from their century-plus farm to a home in Hopkinton. Russell preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 2016.
Virginia had been a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hopkinton, where she had served as Sunday school superintendent and on the funeral lunch committee. She loved to read, play mahjong and go for afternoon tea with her friends.
