Venita E. (Thomsen) Sharp, 87, a resident of Bettendorf, died Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Iowa Masonic Health Facilities in Bettendorf.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport, Masonic Health Facilities or Genesis Hospice.
Venita was born April 13, 1930, in Anamosa, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew and Frances (Guhl) Thomsen. On May 24, 1953, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport, she married William E. Sharp. He preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 2005.
Venita worked as a secretary for Alcoa for 38 years, retiring in 1987. She enjoyed ceramics and playing bingo.
Those left to honor her memory include her special friend, Don Hartz of Bettendorf; her sisters and their husbands, Verda and Jack Scott of DeWitt and Valerie and Denny Hickey of Bradford, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Alice Thomsen of Olin; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Velma Zimmerman; and a brother, Victor Thomsen.
