Thomas L. Tubbs, 72, of Maquoketa, passed away Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, at his home.
His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa, where visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa.
Thomas Levsen Tubbs was born June 10, 1944, in Maquoketa to Forrest and Agnes (Levsen) Tubbs. He graduated from Maquoketa High School. For many years he ran Tubbs Apple Orchard in Maquoketa. He also was a carpenter and baker. He was a member of the United Church of Christ and Jaycees in Maquoketa.
In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and taking care of his big garden. Thomas was a conservation forester and spent many days tending to his trees in the orchard.
Those left to cherish his memories are his cousins, Margaret Zimmerman, Jane Notberg, Martha Woodworth, Steve Edwards, Bonnie Winchip, Carol Wiggins, Dorothy Winchip, Jim Winchip, Myrna Rackosy and Steve Winchip.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Maquoketa Area Community Foundation in his honor.
