Ronald "Ron" Winders
Ronald "Ron" Allen Winders of Loveland, Colo., passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, at Pathways Hospice Center. He was 77. Ron was born May 25, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Myrle and Helen (Biley) Winders. Ron graduated from Wilson High School in 1957.
Ron served our country in the U.S. Army. He then began his career as the ultimate salesman. He started his career selling for Picker X-ray. Later, he found his way to Northwestern Bell as a salesman for Yellow Pages. He traveled all of Iowa. While living in Iowa, he became a member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry Valley of Cedar Rapids, the El Kahir Shriners and the American Legion. He maintained his membership to all three organizations.
Ron and his family moved to Denver, Colo., in 1987. Ron continued his award-winning sales career, selling Yellow Page advertising for US West Direct and Dex, until he retired after 25 years. A major highlight was taking his daughter, Sara, to the President's Circle Award in New York City. He was so proud to escort his daughter.
Ron and his partner/companion, Sharon Thomas, had lived in Loveland for the past 15 years. Together they enjoyed many trips near and far. Ron's favorite destination was Prague in the Czech Republic. He felt he was walking where his beloved Grandpa Biley had walked. Ron always continued his love of sports. Every Saturday during college games you could hear "GO HAWKS" from his "man cave."
Ron is survived by his partner/companion, Sharon Thomas; son, Andrew (Jennifer) Winders from Colorado Springs; daughter, Sara (Steve) Utenick from Denver; two grandchildren, Cade and Miss Torince Winders from Colorado Springs; and his brother, Douglas and wife Beth Winders from Cedar Rapids.
