ROBERT "BOB" KIRSCH

ROBERT "BOB" WILLIAM KIRSCH

Cedar Rapids

Robert "Bob" William Kirsch, 64, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday evening, May 17, 2018. Celebration of Life services will be Sunday, Aug. 5, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Ushers Ferry Lodge, located at 5925 Seminole Valley Trail NE, Cedar Rapids.
Bob is survived by his wife, children and awesome grand boys. He also is survived by his many siblings, nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Preceding Bob in death were his parents, his sister, brother-in-law, father-in law and his nephew.
Bob was born in Waterloo, Iowa, and moved to Cedar Rapids to continue his 29-year career with Hy-Vee. Bob opened the first Hy-Vee in Dubuque and retired from his career with Hy-Vee at the Johnson Avenue location in Cedar Rapids in 1999. Bob loved Hy-Vee, the people he worked with and his customers. Bob continued his life of customer service becoming a Realtor for Iowa Realty until 2008.
Bob was a loving husband, dad and gramps. Bob, to all who knew him, was a caring person who touched and shaped the lives of many. He also ensured he gave back to his community by serving on the board for both the Variety Club and the Boys & Girls Club of Cedar Rapids.
Bob's full-time job after he retired was golf. He also made time to fish and play cards. He was a loyal fan of the Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears, even when they lost (which seemed like a lot some years). There was no other season he loved more than Christmas. He was affectionately anointed "Mr. Christmas" by his family for his love of the songs, decorations, lights and the perfectly tinseled REAL Christmas tree. Per Mr. Christmas, one piece of tinsel per branch is just the right amount, "Just don't throw it on the tree, kids."
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in his name to Boys & Girls Club Cedar Rapids or Variety, the Children's Charity of Iowa.
