Michael Thomas Wild, 49, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2016, at Oldord Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha following a brief battle with cancer. Mike lived in Washington, D.C.
Mike was born Dec. 31, 1966, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of William and Carol Sprengelmeyer Wild.
Mike graduated from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa and master's degree from the State University of New York in Stonybrook. Mike was the deputy director of Re-Districting at the Republican National Committee.
Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Father Phil Thompson will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, with a vigil service starting at 5 p.m. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mike is survived by his parents, William and Carol Wild; siblings, Bill (Judy) Wild of Eden Prairie, Minn., Therese Harrelson of Robins, Steve Wild of Marion, Greg Wild of Cedar Rapids and Lisa (Larry) Nelson of Cedar Rapids; nieces and nephews, Zach, Lauren and Elizabeth Wild, Christopher, Thomas and Jacob Harrelson and Alyssa, Ashleigh and Aryn Nelson; and his beloved dog, Hannah.
Mike had many interests, including business, real estate and traveling. Most important to Mike were his faith, his family and so many dear friends across the country.
He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend and will be missed dearly by those closest to him.
