Marjorie A. Cernin, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the Ed and Joan Hemphill Hospice Unit, UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital. Celebration of Life services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, Cedar Rapids. Burial will take place following at Czech National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel.
Marjorie was born Nov. 28, 1930, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Matthew and Helen (Jandl) Lorenc. She married John Cernin on Feb. 9, 1952, in Cedar Rapids. Marjorie enjoyed playing bingo with her friends and traveling. She was a member of the Eagles, Elks, VFW, WFLA Lodge 262 and attended Olivet Presbyterian Church.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Sherry (Terrence) Schaddel of Springfield, Ill.; grandson, Michael Schaddel; sister, Dorothy (William) Ackermann of Amana; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Willard Cernin.
