Marian Hosford, 74, died Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, at the Anamosa Care Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at First Presbyterian Church, Monticello, with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery. Surviving are two sons, Dan (Tammi) Hosford, Monticello, and Allen (Kolleen) Hosford, Waterloo; two daughters, Dianna (Roger) Wolf, Lisbon, and Lisa Hosford, Monticello; her sister, Ramona (Dick) Carter, Anamosa; her father-in-law, Lyle Hosford, Monticello; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by Larry Hosford and her parents.
Marian Kay Allen was born April 13, 1942, at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa. She was the daughter of George and Gretchen Winch Allen. Marian attended Monticello Community Schools. She married Larry Hosford on July 14, 1957, at St. Paul's Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids. Marian had several occupations during her life; she worked at Collins Radio, Hoag Duster, a silk-screening business and was a waitress and cook at the Monty Cafe. She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday school when her children were little. She loved to play bingo, cards, go shopping, go to the movies and go bowling. She especially loved cats.
