Justin Kramer

Cedar Rapids

Justin William Kramer "Mick," 77, of Cedar Rapids, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, at his home in Cedar Rapids.
Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will take place following the funeral at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Justin was born Feb. 21, 1939, in Dyersville, Iowa, to Harold and Marcella (Jaeger) Kramer. He was united in marriage to Dolores Ann Franks on Nov. 24, 1962, in Mason City. He graduated from Loras College and earned his master's degree from the University of Iowa.
Justin was a huge advocate for Catholic schools, teaching at both Regis and Xavier high schools for over 50 years. His passion was teaching Latin. He also was a guidance counselor, driver's ed instructor and a basketball and golf coach.
His friends and family knew him as "Mick" for his early baseball success and his love for the New York Yankees. He was a dedicated Xavier Saints and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. However, his greatest passion of all was going to his grandchildren's school and sporting events, including golf, softball, tennis, soccer, basketball and cross country, to name a few. He would do anything to see and support his grandchildren.
Justin is survived by his children, Mary (Brad) Goodfellow of Iowa City and Joe (Angie) Kramer; grandchildren, Bailee (Drew), Madison, JD, Rylee, Brian (Ashlee), Lyndsie, Kayla, Abi, Nolan, Zach, Jenna and Josie; his great-granddaughter, M.J.; and his siblings, Thomas (Judy) Kramer and Angie (Ron) Haight.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 48 years, Dolores; and his sister, Bernie Wagner.
