John T. Burlage, 82, of Monticello, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, April 1, 2018, at the Good Neighbor Society in Manchester. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at Kramer Funeral Home, 700 E. Oak St., Monticello, where a parish vigil service will be recited at 3 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Thursday at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 4700 Valley Farm Rd., Central City, prior to funeral services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 5, at the church, with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Castle Grove. The Rev. Wayne Droessler will officiate. Military honors will be accorded by the Monticello Drill Team.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 57 years, Doris; his children, Cheryl (Rodger) Sill of Stanley, and their children, Tom, Will, Sam and Aly; Peter (Holly) Burlage of Plano, Texas, and their children, Sydney and Addisyn; Daniel Burlage of Marion; Carla Burlage of Ankeny; and Dawn Burlage and special friend, Brett Swift of Cedar Rapids; siblings, Grace Tallman of Davenport, Robert Burlage of Monticello, Richard Burlage of Brooklyn, N.Y., Helen Hignite of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Don (Marcia) Burlage of Tipton, Ind.; in-laws, LaVerne "Bud" Domeyer of Petersburg, MaryLou Gravel of Dyersville, John (Shirley) Domeyer of Holy Cross, Peter (Clarice) Domeyer of Dubuque and Rita Domeyer of Dyersville; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick; his parents; his brother, William "Bill" Burlage, as well as many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
