Ernest Adolphe DuBuis, 82, died Saturday, April 22, 2017, at his daughter's home in Solon.
Ernest was born June 17, 1934, in Pawlet, Vt., the son of Adolphe J. and Isabelle (VanDien) DuBuis. Ernest served in the U.S. Air Force. He served two tours in Korea, as well as two tours in Vietnam. He retired from the service on June 1, 1973. On Sept. 7, 1956, Ernest was united in marriage to Mary Sue Baldwin in Winfield, W.Va. Ernest was a member of Sigourney Christian Church, the local AARP chapter, International and local American Red Cross, FEMA Board and Sigourney VFW. He enjoyed collecting, traveling and volunteering in his community.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Kacmarynski of Solon; his son, Jeffrey DuBuis of Marion; five grandchildren, Christopher Kacmarynski, Sara Kacmarynski, Brian Kacmarynski, Somer DuBuis and Jordan DuBuis; and nine great-grandchildren, Lilly, Athena, Connor, Parker, Macy, Audrey, Cayden, Raylynn and Brynlee.
He was preceded by his parents, his wife, and son-in-law, Andrew Kacmarynski.
Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 27, at Sigourney Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice.
