Elizabeth "Betty" Marie Elsner, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, by the Rev. Ivan Nienhaus. Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery, Keystone. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home and Wednesday after 9:30 a.m. at the church.
Betty is survived by her husband, Joseph; two daughters, Theresa (Feldie) Schwab and Pat (Dave) Rinderknecht; and a son, Bill (Donna Jo) Elsner, all of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Matthew, Bethany, Zac, Stacey, Randina and Sam; nine great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Mary (Ron) Claypool of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her three sisters, Marcella Huff, Eileen Bevins and Delores Russell.
Betty was born June 16, 1927, in Solon, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Zenisek Dvorsky, and graduated from Wilson High School. On May 17, 1948, she married Joseph Francis Elsner in Blairstown. She was a member of St. Patrick Church.
Betty believed "faith and family came first," and treasured spending time with her beloved family. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, and was a gifted seamstress.
