Dorothy Kuchel, 95, of Tipton, passed away Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, at Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Tipton. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stanwood, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Olin Cemetery. Following Dorothy's burial in Olin, a luncheon will be served at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in the lower level of the church.
Dorothy Helen (Stolte) Kuchel was born March 27, 1921, near Tipton, Iowa. She was the daughter of Hugo and Sophia Seiling Stolte. Dorothy received her education in the Tipton school system. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith and was confirmed June 2, 1935, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Stanwood. Dorothy and Burness Orlen Kuchel were married in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bennett, Iowa, on Dec. 9, 1942. They farmed for many years in the Tipton and Morley communities before retiring to a home in Mechanicsville. In recent years, Dorothy was a resident of Prairie Hills Assisted Living Center of Tipton.
Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Karen Kay Postel and her husband, Lynn; and two grandsons, Lawrence Postel of Fort Worth, Texas, and Andrew Postel of Hardy, Va.. She is also survived by a sister, Esther Henricksen, Bennett, Iowa.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters, two brothers and two grandsons.
Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Stanwood.
