Doris A. Gollobit, 76, of Lisbon, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016, at Mercy Iowa City. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon. Funeral service: 10 a.m. Saturday at Grace Baptist Church, Marion, by Pastor Cecil Ballard. Burial: Lisbon Cemetery.
Survivors include her
sons, Howard of West Branch and Steve (Sandy) of Mount Vernon; brother, George Pospisil of Sutliff; sister, Shirley (Gary) Heiserman of Sutliff; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Doris was born in Cedar Rapids on Nov. 29, 1939, the daughter of George and Lucille (Tuel) Pospisil. On Dec. 1, 1955, she married Howard "Slim" Gollobit Sr. in Rock Island, Ill. Doris was a teacher for 25 years in Christian schools. She enjoyed showing and raising Havanese dogs. Above all, her faith and love for Jesus was most important to her. She was a longtime member of Grace Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was active in the children's ministries.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Slim; daughter, Sherri Kamberling; daughter-in-law, Diana Gollobit; and two infant great-grandchildren.
