Donald Lynn "Don" Wilson, 72, of Urbana, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Tim DeVries.
Survivors include his wife, Dixie of Urbana; two daughters, Lory Tharp of Walker and Sherry Taylor of Urbana; four grandsons, Zach Tharp, Jared Tharp, Ryan Andrews and Cory Taylor; sister, Julie (Bill) Stephens of Cedar Key, Fla.; mother-in-law, Helen Brown; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, Frank and Alyce (Stone) Wilson; and brothers, Joe Wilson and Ben Wilson.
Don Wilson was born March 1, 1945, at home in West Prairie, Iowa, to Frank and Alyce (Stone) Wilson. On Sept. 14, 1963, he married Dixie Brown in Hiawatha. Don was a successful farmer in the Center Point and Urbana area and also worked at Farmstead. After retiring, he started a lawn mowing business.
Don endured much pain in his life, however, he stayed strong. He was a caring and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Don's memory.
