Dawn Cannon, 55, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, in her home after a long battle with cancer. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at Ascension Lutheran Church, Marion. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at Ascension, conducted by Pastor Linda Livingston. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.
Dawn is survived by her husband of 30 years, Pat; children, Aaron (Kristin) Cannon of Beaver Dam, Wis., and Ellen Cannon of Marion; parents, Luverne and Shirley Druecker of Marion; brother, Dean (Rosie) Druecker, and their son, Kaden, of Cedar Rapids; father-in-law, John Cannon of Dubuque; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Mike (Christy) Cannon of Clinton, Mark (Mary Jo) Cannon of Dubuque, Mary Jo (Greg) Schoepke of New Berlin, Wis., Ann (Rich) Lewitzke of Watertown, Wis., Sue (Paul) Eaves of Richardson, Texas, Dan (Lisa) Cannon of Mount Vernon and Dave (Salena) Cannon of Wiley, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her Grandma Helen and her Aunt Carol, who both fought battles with cancer.
Dawn was born Nov. 11, 1961, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Luverne and Shirley (Mezra) Druecker. She graduated from Marion High School, Coe College with her bachelor's degree, and Clarke College with her master's degree. Dawn was united in marriage on May 23, 1987, to Patrick Cannon in Dubuque. For five years, she was a teacher at Western Dubuque School District and then worked at Rockwell for 28 1/2 years.
Dawn was an avid swimmer and very active in her church, Stephen's Ministry and Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization. Viewing the mountains brought her great joy.
