Conrad Lee "Connie" Hahn, 91. of Marengo, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Marengo, with the Rev. Andrew Gray officiating. Burial will be in Marengo Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Marengo.
A memorial fund has been established.
Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Connie is survived by his wife, Ruth; two sons, Ned of Anchorage, Alaska, and Marty (Tara) of New Prague, Minn.; a daughter, Joni (Leon) Heitman of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Annette Fugitt, Danielle Bowman, Christine Homan, Bridger Hahn, Karly Hahn, Kent Heitman and Abby Heitman; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beverly Roggentien of Marengo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
Conrad Lee Hahn was born Feb. 1, 1925, in North English, Iowa, the son of Clarence Hahn and Jessie Cheney Hahn. He attended North English schools and graduated from Marengo High School in 1942. Connie and Ruth Schumacher were married Oct. 7, 1950, at Ruth's parents' home. He was employed at Swift and Co. for a time, and then became a meter reader for Iowa Electric Light and Power for 37 years.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Marengo Fish and Game Club and Isaac Walton League. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed bowling and fishing. Most of all he cherished his time spent with his family.
