Park Rapids, Minn.
Charles (Chuck) Alfred Knutson, 70, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, April 17, 2018, surrounded by his family in Fargo, N.D.
Chuck was born March 9, 1948, to Charles Alfred and Lorraine Knutson in Breckenridge, Minn. He grew up in Minneapolis and as a teen moved with his family to St. Cloud, Minn. Chuck was enlisted in the Army and served his country in Vietnam. When returning to the states, he completed his education on the GI Bill at St. Cloud Tech, receiving his AA in Drafting. He took a position with Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as a mechanical engineer until his retirement in 2003. Chuck and his wife Roberta retired to their waterfront home in Park Rapids, Minn.
Chuck had a love for the outdoors and spending time with his family. He was avid fisherman, golfer and card player. In fact, he was so busy playing cards, fishing and golfing that he joked that he didn't have enough time to work. He had a plethora of useless knowledge that he shared with all of his grandchildren from the day they were born. Chuck walked three miles every day and refused to take a golf cart. He loved his cake, pies, candy and, of course, his morning coffee.
Military services will be observed on Monday, April 23 at 11 a.m. at Camp Ripley Cemetery, 15550 MN 115, Little Falls, Minn. Celebration luncheon following the service at the American Legion, 103 N. Maple St., Royalton, Minn.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta Knutson; children, Kristina Jasper (Glen), Charlotte Binder, Kathleen Stephenson and Sean Seabold (Rachel); grandchildren, Tyler, Hannah, Brandon, Morgan, Whitney, Hanna, Kane, Eden, Audrey and Alexander; brothers, David Knutson (JoAnn), Myron Knutson (Jean) and Robert Knutson; and sister, Beverly Freihammer (Larry). Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lorraine Knutson; and his brother, Peter Knutson.
