Brian Dean Thompson
Brian Dean Thompson, 52, a resident of Davenport, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, after experiencing a sudden medical event. He died at Genesis Medical Center. He made the gift of life as an organ donor.
Services to celebrate his life will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, in the All Faith Chapel at Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St., downtown Davenport. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. Following his wishes, the rite of cremation will take place before services. The family will greet friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Brian was born Dec. 10, 1965, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a son of Jack Dean and Shirley Joan (Smith) Thompson. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Washington High School and attended Kirkwood Community College, earning an associate of applied science degree.
He was united in marriage to Annette M. Delaughter in 1991. He currently made his home with Megan McClung.
He was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Kitty Hawk, 1984 to 1988.
Brian, or Dean, as some of his friends called him, had been employed by Iowa-American Water Co. since 1991.
He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing, and could fix anything. His greatest joy in life were his daughters; he missed them in his daily life.
Memorials can be made to the family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his two daughters, Hannah (Chris) Waddell and Raquel Thompson, both of Arkansas; his best gal, Megan McClung, and her children, Kayla, Kelsey and Garner; and a brother, Randy Thompson, Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kelly; and a sister in infancy.
