Blanch Evans, 102, died Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, at Sunrise Hill Care Center. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at St. Paul Catholic Church. Friends may call one hour before services Wednesday at the church. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Overton Funeral Home, Traer, is handling arrangements.

Blanch Mary Evans was born May 14, 1914, in Dike, Iowa, the daughter of James and Mary Kubalek. Blanch graduated from Clutier High School in 1932. In 1938, she was united in marriage to Emmett Evans at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Blanch worked in the meat department at Sun Mart in Cedar Rapids for 40 years, retiring in 1979. She then moved to Clutier. In 2005, she moved to Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer.
Blanch was a member of the Rosary Society at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clutier and the Meat Packers Union. She enjoyed fishing, traveling, going on cruises and Sunday family get-togethers at her mother's house.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Steve; five brothers; and five sisters.
Blanch is survived by a granddaughter, Gina; five great-grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews.
