Austin L. Barnes, 19, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, April 23, 2018, at
the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City from Ewing's sarcoma and secondary cancer leukemia. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Cedar Memorial Certified Celebrant Dr. Jim Coyle will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his parents, Teresa Corcran and her fiance, Tim Griffith, of Cedar Rapids and Larry Barnes (Jennifer) of Illinois; a sister, Sabrina Barnes (Mickey) of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Tylor Barnes (Alexis) of Cedar Rapids and Larry Barnes III (Sasha) of Illinois; grandparents, Nancy (Rick) Montague of Cedar Rapids and Jim (Billie Jo) Corcran of Vinton; great-grandparent, Stanley Corum of Marion; two aunts, Elizabeth and Lindsey Estes; an uncle, Brandt (Sydney) Corcran; many cousins including Christopher; and his significant other, Kaylin Slaymaker.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Helen Corcran, Pat Corum and Sharon Barnes; and his beloved companion, Porkchop.
Austin was born June 3, 1998, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Larry Barnes and Teresa Corcran. He graduated from Prairie High School in 2016.
Austin enjoyed playing video games and all outdoor sports including, football, basketball, camping, fishing and kayaking. Austin enjoyed life to its fullest. He will be forever remembered as a wonderful son, brother, grandson and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed.
