Arnold "Arnie" Dean Soukup, 83, of Lisbon, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, in his home.
He was born May 1, 1933, the son of Lydia and Anton Soukup of Cedar Rapids. He also was the brother of Marvin Soukup and Dorothy Horak, both deceased.

Townsen and Diane Yoder; his sons,

Arnie grew up in the Cedar Rapids area, yet helped tend his sister's farm in Brainerd, Minn., during the summers. He was an exemplary high school football player and track star. The Soukup family then moved to a farm in Ely in 1973, whereupon they adopted Joe from Korea and later, Diane, also from Korea. Arnie retired from the farm after 20 years and moved to Lisbon, where he remained until his death.
He was the very proud grandfather of seven beautiful grandkids.
