Anna Ruth Reiner, 94, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully Monday, Sept. 5, 2016, at the Meth-Wick Community. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 15 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church Faith and Life Center. Private inurnment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Anna Ruth was born April 24, 1922, in Canton, Ohio, to Ulrich and Emily With. After graduating from Baldwin Wallace College, she married Ralph Reiner on June 2, 1946.
Anna Ruth worked as a teacher in Ohio for many years. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and served as a chapter adviser. After moving to Cedar Rapids in 1973, she was active in the PEO Sisterhood, was an adult literacy tutor and volunteered at Mercy Medical Center. She was an avid bridge player.
She is survived by her children, Van (Shirley) Reiner of Baltimore, Md., and Ann Reiner of Portland, Ore.; four grandchildren, Timothy (Mayu) Reiner of Singapore, Rebecca (Daniel Gorham) Reiner of Boston, Mass., David (Sarah) Reiner of Bryn Mawr, Pa., and Diana Martin of San Francisco, Calif.; as well as six great-grandchildren.
