Andy Lee Motto, age 74, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at his home in Vinton following a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton, 212 E. Sixth St., with Pastor Mike Ferguson officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Geo G. Luckey American Legion Post #57 and U.S. Navy Military Funeral Honors following the funeral service. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton with graveside services. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the American Cancer Society.
Andy was born on Aug. 31, 1943, to Mike and Hazel (Maynard) Motto in Orville, W.Va. On March 21, 1966, he was united in marriage to Brenda Aldao. Andy served his country in the United States Air Force for over 20 years and completed his military career with the United States Navy. Following his service, he was employed at the Duane Arnold Energy Center.
He is survived by two children, Mike (Carrie) Motto of Marion and Maria Motto of Vinton; three grandchildren, Jordan, Elijah and Jayce; and his sister, Bertha Pohlmann of Vinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father; and his wife, Brenda, in 2016.
