Scholarship and volunteer opportunities available for Iowa Ideas conference

    Our goal is to make sure Iowa Ideas is accessible to all Iowans who want to join the conversation. In our inaugural year, more than 600 people from all walks of life attended to discuss the shared future of our state.

    The Iowa Ideas conference will return to Cedar Rapids, Sept. 20-21, 2018

    There are two opportunities to attend Iowa Ideas 2018 at a free or reduced rate: scholarships and volunteer opportunities.

     

    Scholarships:

    A limited number of scholarships are available for current students and Iowa residents. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a first-come, first served basis – so apply soon. Any questions about the status of a scholarship application can be sent to iowaideas@thegazette.com.  

    Scholarships will be awarded to selected recipients in the form of waived registration to attend the Iowa Ideas conference, September 20-21 2018 in Cedar Rapids.

    Scholarships include an open response essay question, please answer in less than 500 words: Why do you want to attend the Iowa Ideas conference? Include any special interests you have within our topic areas and what you hope to learn by attending. Topic areas for 2018 include: Agriculture, Education, Energy & Environment, Future of Work, Health Care, Human & Social Services, Policy and Regional Development. 

     

    Volunteer opportunities:

    Volunteers are required to assist for a minimum of 4 hours. In return, volunteers will receive an admission pass for the conference.
