Video Sessions -- The mental Shooter McGavin
Hawkeyes see possibilities, hurdles in regard to strong finish
If you listened to our On Iowa podcast on Monday, you probably heard me refer to the "Shooter McGavin six-gun celebration."
If you've seen the movie "Happy Gilmore," you know what I'm talking about. It's a goofy movie. Adam Sandler is a bad hockey player with anger issues. Carl Weathers turns him into a golfer who can drive the ball 400 yards. Christopher McDonald played Happy's golf rival and had a six-gun, shooting off the guns sort of celebration.
I joked on the podcast that maybe Iowa QB Jake Rudock did the "Shooter McGavin" in his head after completing a bullet of a pass to Kevonte Martin-Manley for a 22-yard score last weekend. It was a heckuva throw. It also beat Purdue CB Ricardo Allen, who kind of baited the throw.
It's not on video, but I downloaded the sound from the part where, sigh, I did ask if he did the "Shooter McGavin." Luckily, Rudock had seen the movie, so I wasn't left out there all alone on the limb of silly movie references. I've been there, oh yes, I've been there. And will be again, probably.
Funny, small moment from Wednesday's festivities, where a November charge was discussed.
Sounds as though someone was hurt vs. Purdue. No name given other than the injury is in addition to DE Dominic Alvis.
Here's the sound from Jake Rudock:
