If there is another Jones brother who plays football for South Oak Cliff High School near Dallas, Texas, Colorado State probably won't come knocking.

During the 2013 recruiting season, South Oak Cliff wide receiver A.J. Jones committed to the Rams only to switch to the University of Iowa on Feb. 1.

In May, Jyaz Jones, A.J.'s younger brother, committed to Colorado State. According to, Jyaz Jones changed his mind Friday and became the sixth commitment for Iowa's 2014 recruiting class.

Jyaz Jones, a 6-0, 172-pound safety, picked Iowa over offers from Nebraska, Baylor, Texas Tech and New Mexico State. Jones suffered a torn ACL on the first day of spring football practice. downgraded his star rating from three to two, but that didn't stop the offers from coming.

"It [the surgery] went well," South Oak Cliff head coach Emmett Jones told "We're interested in getting the rehabilitation process started. We won't rush him to come back to football, but if he can come back [by] week seven, maybe week six, that'll be a possibility."

As far as skill set, Jones said, ""He's 6-1, he's rangy with long arms, he's quick -- they [Colorado State] want him at safety but he can play cornerback as well. He has great ball skills, great quick-twitch skills, and he's a strong kid. His athletic ability is kind of off the charts."

The Iowa staff has had its eye on Jyaz Jones since extending a scholarship offer Feb. 25. Linebackers coach LeVar Woods is listed as Jones' lead recruiter. Woods also secured A.J. Jones' commitment.

"I talked to coach LeVar Woods and the first thing he asked me was if I was sitting down or not. I told him I was and then he said, 'Guess what? We're going to give you an offer.' It was pretty exciting," Jones told†"I like Iowa a lot. I was happy to get the offer because they're one of my favorites. Right away, I started thinking about my brother going there and it's a place I could see myself going too.

"All of our lives, ever since we were little, we've always talked about going to the same college and playing together."

As a†junior at South Oak Cliff last season, Jones finished with 53 tackles, five sacks and three interceptions. A.J. Jones reported to Iowa for summer conditioning workouts this week.

Iowa football recruiting 2014 started quickly with commitments from Cedar Falls' O-lineman Ross Pierschbacher and Union High School quarterback Jay Scheel. Both are rated as four-star athletes by Dubuque Senior O-lineman Lucas Legrand committed in April and then the Hawkeyes went two months before defensive back Omar Truitt and running back C.J. Hilliard committed within days of each other last week.

Iowa now has six commitments for the '14 class. Iowa will have 15 seniors exhausting their eligibility this year. Last season, Iowa had 16 seniors move on, but still signed a class of 21.
