North Liberty and JM Swank encourage local businesses to reduce energy use

NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa – January 15, 2013 – The City of North Liberty’s Hometown Rewards program and JM Swank, ConAgra Foods’ national food ingredients distribution business, are inviting local business representatives to a panel discussion on energy-efficiency rebates and incentives for businesses.

The North Liberty Hometown Rewards program – sponsored by Alliant Energy – is a community wide effort to promote energy-efficient behavior and investment in energy-efficient upgrades. JM Swank, headquartered in North Liberty, is a leader in energy-efficiency and sustainability practices.

JM Swank has made it their mission to educate and engage their employees in sustainable practices. ConAgra Foods is dedicated to making the food people love in an environmentally responsible way, and their sustainability objectives address the environmental issues that are most material to the business: climate change, water resources, waste management, packaging, and sourcing.

The panel discussion is focused on assisting other businesses to engage in sustainable practices. Local businesses are invited to enjoy lunch from Catered by Charlotte, network with North Liberty businesses, and hear from a panel of utility representatives from Alliant Energy, Linn County REC, and MidAmerican Energy.

Attendees can learn about the rebates and incentives available to North Liberty businesses to make energy-efficiency upgrades. They can also see what kind of projects are eligible for incentives and rebates and how to apply for these programs to help reduce out-of-pocket costs and increase the payback of energy-efficiency projects.

At the conclusion of the panel, attendees can tour the onsite facility to see the energy saving measures and other sustainable practices currently in place.
